Global warming, oppression, war, capitalism, AI, and fascist dictators, to name a few, are stealing our lives, and I am exhausted by the gloom and doom of media, news, and conversation. Many believe the fight is already lost. Sometimes, a tear will trickle down my cheek, and I wonder if my efforts are worth it anymore.
It was always my intention, through the Serein Lark, to provide refuge from the troubles of real life: an escape. The need is great, and I will continue to publish stories that can twirl the reader away. But furthermore, we must tell stories that inspire.
I never wanted themes as part of the submission criteria. Today, I break my own rules. If you are an artist of any kind (writing, illustration, music, photography), I beg you to join me on this indie lit mag's new project: The Words of Daffodils.
I will see you on the sunnier side.

When is the launch date of the finished product?
No specific date has been chosen, but the aim is to publish in the upcoming winter. More information will come.
In what format will The Words of Daffodils be released?
Unlike our normal publications, The Words of Daffodils will be released as a digital flipbook. I would love to release a print version, but this remains a dream for now.
Will it be free to read Daffodils when it's finished?
Of course! The Serein Lark stands by the idea that reading should be accessible, and those suffering from financial instability are among those who need The Words of Daffodils the most.
I might, however, look into a "pay-what-you-can solution" to help further finance the magazine and the 70 NOK homages to contributors (artists should be paid, and art should be free)
Is "The Words of Daffodils" its final name or a placeholder?
It is a placeholder name, but who really knows?
What inspired The Words of Daffodils?
I came across a viral reel on Instagram by the talented artist @bloohstudio with an audio by @itsbobbyopp that truly made my day. It was such a contrast to the usual doomsday mindset that is everywhere online and is a perfect example of the importance of human-made art and one artist's impact. This reel alone has fundamentally changed my thought process. It has given me hope.
