A 1970s grandfather clock, rose-painted in blues and reds, stands in a lumber cottage long forgotten. The pointers show to nine-twenty-two; that is where they stay.
Only the Lark knows whether it stopped at nine-twenty-two in the evening or at nine-twenty-two in the morning. Was the family, whose hands and sweat built the cottage and painted the grandfather clock in blues and reds, still around for the death of time, in which case, what were they doing? Were they sitting by the table, joined by food and audio dramas chirping on the radio? Or had they already concluded it was time to move on?
Today, the Serein Lark carries the message of a prophecy prophecised.
On the 7th of August 2026, the grandfather clock, rose-painted in blues and reds, shall awake again. Time unfastens. It dances again.
If you read that little passage right there, I expect you're widely confused. But fear not! I will explain this fantastic news in simpler words. Ready?

A date has been chosen for the release of the Serein Lark's first-ever issue!
Set a reminder in your calendars now for August 7th! Why the 7th? Well, because 7 is a magical number, of course!
So, on the morning of the 7th, make certain to check the archives or the home page for the first-ever issue of the Serein Lark Review. Read, comment, and share. Your every interaction with the issue will be an invaluable support to both the fabulous writers who've worked hard on their short stories and to the Lark itself!
Oh no, another newsletter...
If you're the forgetful type, no worries, because a newsletter may or may not be in the works! I know what you're thinking: another newsletter cluttering up my inbox? Fear not, because the sole purpose of this newsletter will be to notify you of new publications, and nothing more. Consider it a DM from a friend telling you to check out a new cool reel! So, keep an eye out for the newsletter subscription form, and don't be shy.
No More Issues?
The first-ever issue of the Serein Lark Review will also be the last... No, we're not shutting down! Instead, this magazine will no longer publish collections of writing at periodic intervals but will move to continuous publishing.
That means there will no longer be long wait times between each issue. Writers will be published one by one as they are accepted. We find that this grants the writer an added radiance to their spotlight, as they will no longer be buried within one small collection where multiple writers are published at once.
But that does not mean our first issue (and last) is any less important. At this time, three writers have been onboarded (read their interviews now, if you haven't already!), and they will forever be the spine of this magazine. It is their pieces that truly, fully launch this magazine into the world! With their words, we light the fuse, we send the stars to their skies, and when a reader stumbles onto the website, there are lights to gaze upon!

This magazine is a small, indie one-woman show that's only just started, and I'm (Hello, my name is Eva) incredibly grateful and honoured to be entrusted with the works of fellow writers. I hope to do you all justice!
Psst, come meet me in my emails if you want to join the Serein Lark Author Club!
That is all.
With sunshine,
Eva
