The Elephant In The Room Is Yellow
Yellow leaves begin to drift through the sky, sun-touched. The sky is forgetting to be blue, and rain drips down the gutters, a brown colour; the bugs drown. But fear not! In the morning there shall be mist and dew, and the baby deer will stand in the backyard, joyous and free. In the evening, there shall be a golden light streaked across your chin.

You might have noticed a new page on the website. What is it? Why is it so bright and yellow? Argh, it hurts my eyes!
Dear readers, I believe we are all in need of the Yellow. More so, we need what it symbolises. The sun, joy, vitality, warmth - and hope.
Here is my letter to you:
Global warming, oppression, war, capitalism, AI, and fascist dictators, to name a few, are stealing our lives, and I am exhausted by the gloom and doom of media, news, and conversation. Many believe the fight is already lost. Sometimes, a tear will trickle down my cheek, and I wonder if my efforts are worth it anymore.
It was always my intention, through the Serein Lark, to provide refuge from the troubles of real life: an escape. The need is great, and I will continue to publish stories that can twirl the reader away. But furthermore, we must tell stories that inspire.
I never wanted themes as part of the submission criteria. Today, I break my own rules. If you are an artist of any kind (writing, illustration, music, photography), I beg you to join me on this indie lit mag's new project: The Words of Daffodils.
I will see you on the sunnier side.
Love,
Eva,
Founder and Editor of the Serein Lark Review
